The Love Song of Kermit the Frog by Ed Choy Moorman
(
www.edsdeadbody.com)
I'm a big fan of Jim Henson's body of work and I've been watching
The Muppet Show lately (on DVD) for the first time in years so my discovery of this comic was quite timely. I'm already anxious to finish those DVDs so I can rewatch the movies and this comic makes a great companion piece.
Love Song is a charming tribute to the man. The main piece, "Scenes from the Life and Death of Jim Henson", is a mini-biography of his life from childhood to death and does a fine job of capturing highlights and the general sweetness that was so pervasive throughout Henson's career.
Rounding out this slim volume are a page in which Ed muses (in comics form) about Henson's influence on his art, an older comic starring Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and a related poem.
The biography can also be read at the artist's
website. When you're done there take a look at some of
these videos, go rent some Muppet DVDs and you might even check out Roger Langridge's new
Muppet Show comic. But be sure to rent those DVDs.
