Review: Drifting with Buzzy Linhart by Pat Moriarity

Drifting with Buzzy Linhart coverBuzzy Linhart is a musician who played vibes for stars like Jimi Hendrix, Carly Simon, and Richie Havens. His solo albums include Buzzy and Pussycats Can Go Far. Perhaps his most famous song is Friends, which became Bette Midler's signature song.

Drifting is mostly a story about Buzzy, but the cartoonist Pat Moriarity also makes an appearance. The adventure begins on solid footing but as things get moving it quickly becomes a head trip on paper. Moriarity is a great cartoonist and storyteller. The book is filled with clever transitions and visuals as Moriarity warps the time/space continuum and morphs one scene into another.

You can read the whole adventure online on Buzzy's website, but it's more fun on paper. Drifting with Buzzy Linhart is 16 pages including the cover. It's printed on colored paper with saddle-stitch binding. It's published by Brownfield Press and available for $2 from the Poopsheet Shop.

Thanks for the great review, Justin. I really should heed your criticism for forthcoming projects and get some serious editing. Maybe I ought to seek your services for good measure ;)

I don’t mean to nitpick, but if you’ve been reading my reviews for a while here at Poopsheet Foundation, then you know that I can be a stickler for proper grammar and punctuation. There are many elements of The Wang that I did enjoy, but some of…
