Five issues in, Hendricks is proving that this niche he’s found still has some legs. These are illustrated versions of Missed Connections Craigslist ads from Chicago, Detroit, New York, and San Francisco. Some of the stories might not have the fresh pizazz or zing of the earlier entries, but it’s still a fascinating exercise. Whether it’s empty longing, or a penchant for odd sexual proclivities, there’s a human constant in wanting to connect. There’s a sense of isolation in feeling so different that you think you can’t. There’s something psychologically primal about revealing insecurities, secrets, and confessions in the public forum of Craigslist, anonymously hiding in plain sight. Grade B+.
