SCAFFOLD I-XXII by Veronica Graham & Jesse Eisenhower

This edition of Scaffold is constructed with a similar technique as the previous issue I sampled, complete with fold out maps that flip up to enhance the reading experience, acting as a narrative guide through the meticulous structure. It’s really fun to wade through the small scale figures wandering their very own diorama of creationism, where three strata of laborers are trailed while encountering variances in their reality and must interpret them. There are times when I feel like some narrative clarity is sacrificed for the sheer beauty and wonderment of world-building and hand stitched construction, but it’s a good trade-off. Grade A-.
