PRIZON FOOD #2 by Eric Schuster & Joseph Gillette

This issue picks right up from the cliffhanger previously, with Waltar being abducted by aliens while his brother and the King try to “save” him, something that degenerates into a mostly bickering phone call. I enjoyed the meddling aliens hiding in the background shadows and giving the term “one-eyed monster” dual meaning. The alien jailhouse is hilarious and the issue certainly pays off everything that was set up in the first. What I think I dig the most about the subversive nature of Prizon Food is that there’s actually a plot, not just set-ups for gags that are endlessly strung together. Additionally, this guy “Sandman” is one of my favorite new mini-comics characters in a looong time. You can’t help but appreciate the incredibly strong singular vision of Prizon Food. Grade A+.
